NU Laboratories is a US Navy approved shock test facility, listed by NAVSEA among the facilities approved for MIL-DTL-901 high-impact shock qualification testing.

Navy shock test approval

MIL-DTL-901 requires that high-impact shock testing be performed only on test machines approved by the Navy Technical Authority. In a memorandum dated 7 November 2022, the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Technical Warrant Holder for Shock – Ships certified the current list of approved high-impact shock test facilities — and NU Laboratories is on it.

We are listed as an approved contractor facility with one Light Weight Shock Machine (LWSM) and one Medium Weight Shock Machine (MWSM), qualified for shock testing of shipboard equipment and systems. Our machines have held continuous Navy approval since 1996, and remain the basis of the high-impact shock testing described in our dynamics capabilities.
